One Fine Autumn Day

Acrylic and gesso on a gallery wrapped canvas
8"x8"x1.5"

Inspired by a photo of Nam Han San Sung my dad took while he was hiking among the pine trees.
It reminded me of my childhood time when our family took a regular weekend hike there. Just like how you can see in the painting, the sun shining through the trees, the freshness of pine trees and coolness of the autumn made me happy. :)

Mt. Tremblant

I revised my Mt. Tremblant piece. I wanted the vibrant foliage to be as impactful as my impression of it when I visited the place. A bit more bold, a bit more Cezanne.

Discovery: Fire Reception

I attended Discovery: Fire reception yesterday as a participating artist. It was really great to see so many people who came to the exhibition and I was thankful for having many unexpected guests who meant a lot to me and who definitely supported my career as an artist.
The exhibition will run until Feb.7th.

The sun peaking out in Carmel

20"x24"x1.5"
Acrylic and Gesso on Canvas

Here's my most recent work titled "The sun peaking out in Carmel"

This painting is based on the impression I got when I went to the beach in a cute, small town called "Carmel", California. When we got there, it was cloudy and chilly. However, after a few minutes, the sun started clearing up the clouds and it was warming us up in a blink of an eye.

Entropy Series I

Last week, I did a painting on a 36"x24" canvas with gesso, acrylic and some leftover wall paint. It was fun mixing and painting the whole canvas in pastel colors and those colors definitely got me going until the last minute I completed it. I wanted to express the warmth and sweetness that everyone possesses, which is often challenged by the outer world, the experience they go through, social and economical influences. I think the world of order and pretty colors become reality when it encounters constantly occurring disorders and random, unforeseeable events. So I call this project "Entropy", which means a measure of disorder.
